Operations Update: President's Day Weekend
We could not have asked for better weather during President's Day Weekend! Tons of fresh snow and bluebird pow days made for incredible conditions. We have remained open wall to wall thanks to our hardworking ski patrol and snow safety team.
Terrain Update:
On Thursday, February 15th patrol mitigated around the mountain, securing all terrain. We began daily operations with 4" and received an additional 12" during day operations. This snow came down quick, causing Lightning Ridge to close around 11am due to rapidly changing conditions. Paradise closed for approximately 1 hour after a minor slide was caused, but reopened after Ski Patrol investigated the slide path and ski cut the terrain is question.
Friday, February 16th was another powder day with zero visibility, but all terrain remained open, except James Peak due to avalanche danger.
Saturday, February 17th was nothing but sun and pow slaying. Lift tickets sold out, and parking was full. A busy holiday weekend with prime conditions created the perfect storm.
Sunday, February 18th was a wild one. It was storming hard until 1pm, and our first lightning hold in a while happened at 1:00pm. Only Timberline, Sundown, and Hidden Lake were open until 1:30pm, then everything reopened for the remainder of the day.
James Peak has remained closed since Sunday, February 18th.
