Lightning Ridge Relay

Lightning Ridge Relay is a new ski and snowboard event on Powder Mountain's infamous Lightning Ridge. The race consists of a skin up the ridge, a race through gates, and a skate, skin, or foot race back to the Lightning Ridge skin start line up to pass the baton to your teammate. Team uniforms are encouraged! 

This event is capped at 100 participants, so please register early to guarantee your spot and the best price on a day ticket. Registration is online only, and same-day event registration will not be available. 

This is a co-ed event, teams consist of 3 people of the same sport, either 3 skiers or 3 snowboarders.

Team Instructions

  • Participants will have to show proof of valid day pass or season pass at Bib Pick-Up
    Check in/bib pickup and practice from 9am-10am. Event begins at 10:15am. 
  • Helmets are required for this event

Registration:

  • Teams are made up of 3 skiers or 3 snowboarders
  • Team registration fee is TBD
  • Please register your team with a team name and a team captain who will be point of contact.
  • Each member will need to sign a liability waiver day of event.
  • Parent must be present to sign liability waiver if participant is under the age of 18

Rules:

  1. You must skin up on touring skis or a splitboard setup. NO scaled skis .
  2. NO skin skiing. You must remove skins to ski down.
  3. Lightning Ridge Cat has the right of way, failure to move out of the way will result in disqualification
  4. You must complete all gates; 60 seconds will be added to your time for each missed gate
  5. Baton must be handed off to teammate, Throwing baton or passing baton off before LR shack will result in disqualification
  6. NO physical contact with other competitors, contact will result in disqualification.
  7. Knocking over signage, rope lines, bamboo or other event terrain markings results in disqualification.
  8. Ducking ropes or exiting event terrain results in disqualification
  9. You must finish with all the gear you started with
