Construction Catch Up: DMI Top Terminal Install
Every foundation pour, tower install, and terminal construction brings us one step closer to opening 1,047 acres of advanced and expert terrain this winter.
DMI Top Terminal Installed
This summer, we’re installing two new lifts at Powder Mountain: DMI and Sundown Express. Installing a ski lift is an intensive process, and planning begins years in advance. Once the lift line layout, permitting, and equipment purchases are set, the installation is split into five main phases:
- Site preparation, foundations, and concrete
- Tower installation
- Terminal construction
- Cable hauling and splicing
- Installing chairs and load testing
Work began on DMI last summer with site preparation, then crews moved into foundation and concrete work this spring. Earlier this summer, a helicopter flew the towers in, and a catch team set them in place. A few weeks ago, the top and bottom terminals were installed, bringing us closer to the final steps of the process
