Lightning Ridge Relay is back for its second year! The famous Lightning Ridge hosts the relay course, consisting of a skin up The Ridge, a race through gates down Weber Bowl, and a skate, skin, or foot race up Slow Poke back to the start line. This is a co-ed event, teams consist of 3 skiers or 3 splitboarders. Team uniforms are HIGHLY encouraged.

A $600 cash prize awaits the first-place teams! Second and third-place teams won't leave empty-handed either—enjoy prizes from our sponsors: Anon, Uinta, Skullcandy, K2 and more. 

This event is capped at 34 teams, register early to guarantee your spot! Online registration is highly encouraged. Same-day registration will be available if the event doesn’t sell out. Event priced all-day tickets will be available for participants. Instructions to redeem discounted event lift tickets will be emailed to the team captain once registration is complete.

Team Instructions

  • This is a co-ed event and teams consist of 3 skiers or 3 splitboarders.
  • Registration for a team of 3 is $60.
  • A team captain, who will be the point of contact, registers the team with a team name.
  • All team members must check in on the morning of the event to sign a liability waiver.
  • If a participant is under 18, a parent or guardian must be at check-in to sign their liability waiver.
  • Check-in will be in the Powder Keg from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM.
  • All team members must have a season pass or lift ticket to participate.
  • Instructions to redeem discounted event lift tickets will be emailed to the team captain once registration is complete.
  • Helmets are required during the downhill portion of the relay.
  • Online registration is highly encouraged. Same-day registration will be available if the event doesn’t sell out.

Rules

  1. You must skin up on touring skis or a splitboard setup. NO scaled skis.
  2. NO skin skiing. You must remove skins to ski down.
  3. You must complete all gates; 69 seconds will be added to your time for each missed gate
  4. 69 seconds added to teams without costumes
  5. -69 seconds for skinning up with open Uinta beer
  6. Baton must be handed off to teammate, Throwing baton or passing baton off before LR shack will result in disqualification
  7. NO physical contact with other competitors, contact will result in disqualification.
  8. Knocking over signage, rope lines, bamboo or other event terrain markings results in disqualification.
  9. Ducking ropes or exiting event terrain results in disqualification
  10. You must finish with all the gear you started with
